The Polecats kept it close until the Diamond Devils broke it open in the seventh and eighth innings for a 11-4 win.

The Polecats scored the first two runs of the game in the fourth inning, however, the Devils the lead would not last long. Andrew Engebretson singled to lead off the Devils side of the fourth inning. Lee Gregg tied the game with a homerun that went into the pine trees in left field.

The Devils took the lead in the fifth inning. Billy Soule singled in his time at the plate and then stole second. Adam Gregg walked giving the Devils runners at first and second. Brad Mazer scored Billy with a single to left field. After two outs, Ryan Dywer scored the final two runs of the inning with a double to left center.

The Polecats cut the lead down to one run in the seventh but the Devils scored two runs in the bottom half of the inning. Brad Mazer and Andrew Engebretson walked putting runners at first and second. After a fly out to center, Ryan Dwyer moved the runners up with a ground ball that was fielded by the pitcher along the right field line. KC Johnson scored both runners with a single to left center.

The Devils broke it open in the eighth. With one out, Adam Gregg doubled to right center. Brad Mazer drove in Adam with a double to left center. After a strike out, a throwing error by the shortstop in Lee Gregg’s at bat allowed Lee to reach first and score a run. Two walks loaded the bases for Andrew Pratt, who singled to right center to score the final two runs of the game.

Adam Gregg earned the victory, pitching seven innings and giving up four runs, two earned on 108 pitches. Billy Soule pitched his first game for the Devils earning the save.
