Elk River had six pitchers toe the rubber, however, it did not matter as the Diamond Devils scored at will on their way to a 15-4 win in seven innings.

The Devils scored three runs in the first inning. Ryan Dwyer led off the game with a walk and then stole second base. After a ground out to short, Adam Gregg singled to score Ryan. Adam stole second and moved up to third on a wild pitch. Andrew Engebretson doubled home Adam and then scored on a Lee Gregg double.

The Devils added five more runs in the second inning. Craig Hawkinson singled, stole second and then moved up to third on a wild pitch. Dan Boisclair and Ryan Dwyer walked in their time at the plate. Andrew Pratt scored Craig on a single. Adam Gregg cleared the bases with a double. On a change of pitchers, Andrew Engebretson reached first on an error in right field. After the first out of the inning, KC Johnson scored Adam on a sac fly to center for the final run of the inning.

The Devils added another run in the fourth inning on the third pitcher of the game. Adam Gregg walked to start off the inning. There was an error at second in Andrew Engebretson’s at bat that allowed the Devils to keep runners at first and second. A double steal moved both runners up before KC Johnson scored Adam with his second sac fly to center in the game.

The Devils scored four more runs in the fifth inning. The Devils had bases loaded after Craig Hawkinson singled, Dan Boisclair walked and Ryan Dwyer was hit by a pitch. The next two batters could not score a run as Andrew Pratt flew out to second and Adam Gregg’s ground ball to third resulted in Craig getting thrown out at the plate. With bases still loaded Andrew Engebretson walked to score the first run. Lee Gregg singled to score the second run. KC Johnson struck out, however, the ball got away from the catcher allowing another run to score and KC to reach first. Kyle Tengesdul singled to score the final run of the inning.

The Devils added the final two runs of the game in the sixth. Another new pitcher entered the game and walked the first batters. Another pitching change resulted in mixed results as two ground ball outs allowed the first run to score and a John Hilbelink base hit scored the final run of the game.

TJ Aalid pitched a complete game giving up four runs, two earned on 78 pitches over seven innings.
