The Diamond Devils trailed until the eighth inning only to lose the game on the last at bat as the River Bandits were able to get a base hit with bases loaded.

The Devils were stymied at the plate through the first four innings only managing two walks, while the River Bandits were able to get to runners to cross the plate. The first base hit did not come until the fifth inning when KC Johnson hit a triple to center field. Brad Mazer cut the lead in half with a single to center field for the only run to the inning.

The River Bandits were able to score unearned runs in the bottom of the fifth and in the bottom of the seventh to expand their lead to 4-1.

The Devils tied the game in the top of the eighth scoring three runs. Adam Gregg crushed a 0-2 hanging fastball and drove it into the pine trees in left center. After a fly out to second, Lee Gregg singled down the left field line. After a swinging bunt, Lee ended up at second base with two outs. Brand Mazer singled to right to put runners at the corners. Jake Smith drove in Lee with a single to right and was followed by a game tying single to center by TJ Aalid to end the scoring for the Devils.

With the darkness creeping in, the Devils kicked the game away by giving up yet another unearned run in the bottom of the ninth.
