TJ Aalid pitched a complete game as the Diamond Devils cruised to an 8-1 win over the Mound Mallards.

After catching the entire game on Friday night, TJ went out on Sunday and pitched a complete game on 128 pitches. TJ with excellent control was able to change speeds on his pitches keeping the Mound hitters off balance the whole game. After Mound scored their only run of the game, only five more runners would be able get into scoring position despite 10 more hits for the Mallards.

The Devils got a little help in the second taking advantage of two Mound errors to score three runs. KC Johnson started off the inning with a ball hit sharply to short however the shortstop could not make the backhanded play cleanly allowing KC to reach first. Ryan Dwyer
put KC into scoring position when he walked. Jake Smith’s sac bunt was misplayed by the pitcher giving the Devils a bases loaded opportunity. TJ Aalid walked to force in the first run and Craig Hawkinson walked to force in the eventual game winning run. Andrew Pratt’s ground ball to short resulted in the final run of the inning.

Three more runs crossed the plate in the third inning. With two outs and Andrew Engebretson on second and KC Johnson on first the Devil hitters, Jake Smith, TJ Aalid and Craig Hawkinson, reeled off three base hits to score three more runs.

The Devils scored the final two runs of the game in the seventh inning. With two outs, TJ Aalid walked in his time at the plate. Craig Hawkinson scored TJ on a double to right center. Andrew Pratt earned the final RBI of the game with a single to right that scored Craig from second base.
