The Devils showed good patience at the plate by drawing 13 walks in the game on their way to a 9-6 win in Delano.

By the third inning the Devils had built a 2-1 lead with the Devils scoring 2 runs in the top of the first with the A’s responding with a run of their own in the bottom of the second. The Devils expanded the lead in the top of the third. John Hilbelink led off the inning by drawing a walk. Adam Gregg followed with a base hit. With the second single of the inning, Andrew Engebretson drove in John. After a walk and a strikeout, Ryan Dwyer doubled to score the final two runs of the inning.

The A’s would close the gap in the fourth inning scoring three runs after the first four batters of the inning reached base on two base hits, a hit by pitch and a walk. The Devils starter, Jake Smith would get outs in each of the next three at bats however, that would be the game for Jake as his pitch count had reached 83 pitches.

TJ Aalid entered the game in the fifth inning and would earn the victory pitching the next four innings while surrendering no runs as the Devils expanded the lead.

The Devils tacked on two more runs in the top of the seventh inning. Adam Gregg was hit by a pitch to start off the inning. Andrew Engebretson walked in his time at the plate. Adam Gregg stole third base as Lee Gregg attempted to lay down a bunt. The Devils then pulled off a double steal to score the first run of the inning. With an eventual strike out in Lee’s at bat and fly out in the next at bat, Ryan Dwyer doubled to left center to score Andrew from second base for the last run of the inning.

The Devils and A’s exchanged runs in the ninth inning to finalize the score at 9 to 6.
