The Diamond Devils behind the pitching of Pat McPherson, Judson McKown and Billy Soule takeout the Bulldogs 8-3.

The Bulldogs had the first opportunity of the game to take the lead in the second inning. With two outs, the Bulldogs would string together a couple of infield hits and a base hit to left just past a diving Billy Soule to load the bases. However, the Devils starting pitcher Pat McPherson would escape the situation with a fly ball to second that initially looked like it was going to get past Kyle Tengedul but died in the thick air of the late balmy evening.

The Devils scored three in the top of the third. Dan Boisclair led off the inning with a walk. Billy Soule lined a ball to right center. Ryan Dwyer laid down a bunt for a base hit down the left field line. KC Johnson drove in Dan and moved Billy up to third with a sacrifice fly to right field. With runners at the corners, Ryan Dwyer took off on the pitcher's first movement getting caught in a rundown. On the throw from the first baseman to the shortstop, Billy broke for home beating the subsequent throw from the shortstop standing up. The catcher tried a swipe tag but the ball went to the backstop allowing Ryan to reach third base. Lee Gregg drove in Ryan with a ground ball to short.

The Devils picked up another run in the fourth. With two outs, Andrew Miller, just off of the Orono Spartans, hit a triple into the right center gap and came around on a wild pitch a couple of batters later.

The Devils added three more runs in the top of the fifth. KC Johnson singled and Lee Gregg walked setting up TJ Aalid's sacrifice bunt. Trent Holmquist singled to center scoring KC and Lee. Kyle Tengedul's round ball to short forced Trent at second but Kyle beat the relay. Andrew Miller singled to left center moving Kyle over to third. Dan Boisclair drove in the final run of the inning with a base hit to left.

In the bottom half of the fifth, the Bulldogs in Pat McPherson's final inning broke through scoring two runs on two doubles just inside the left field line and a single to center.

The Devils scored their final run of the game in the sixth when four straight hitters walked.

The remainder of the game was pitched by newcomer Judson McKown and Billy Soule. Both pitchers struck out three batters in the two innings in which they pitched. Billy had to pitch to a few more batters as the defense committed three errors.
