The Diamond Devils found themselves in a pitchers dual on Sunday at Don Timpe field.

Tom Fisk and Adam Gregg combined were able to outlast the Kings’ starting pitcher Eric Pokornowski. Eric gave up an unearned run in the top of the first when the Devils' leadoff hitter Billy Soule singled to left and then proceeded to steal second. Billy had a sizeable lead at second when the Kings attempted a pick off. The throw from Eric ended up going into center field allowing Billy to take third. A few pitches later a pitch went off the catcher's mitt and rolled towards the visitors' dugout giving the Devils the early lead.

Tom Fisk pitched the first four innings for the Devils giving up no runs on one hit and three walks before Adam Gregg took over. In Adam's first inning, the Kings tied the score. With one out, Adam Barnaal walked. After a strike out, Eric Pokornowski tripled into the right center gap. On the play the Devils conceded the run and went after Eric going to third. As Eric was sliding into third, the throw from Craig Hawkinson got by KC Johnson giving the Kings a chance for a go ahead run but a perfect throw from KC got Eric by a couple of steps. From that point on Adam would shut down the Kings as they would not get a run on base until there were two outs in the ninth.

The Devils almost regained the lead in the bottom half of the fifth but the Kings would also throw out a runner at the plate. It would take the Devils until the eighth inning to finally get something going against the King's pitcher. With one out, KC Johnson singled to right center. Lee Gregg moved KC over to third when he singled to right center. With runners at the corners, Tom Fisk grounded a ball to the left of the third baseman. Instead of trying to get KC at the plate, the third baseman tried for an inning ending double play but the relay to first was too late giving the Devils a 2-1 win.
