The Devils starting pitcher Paul Kunz was a little shaky in the first inning giving up four runs on three hits, two walks and a hit by pitch but Paul would later redeem himself at the plate going three for four and scoring three runs.

The Devils found themselves down four runs by the time the third out was recorded in the top half of the first but rebounded nicely with four runs in their turn at the plate. Craig Hawkinson started off the game with a walk on four straight pitches. KC Johnson also walked on four straight pitches before Adam Gregg ripped a three run line drive homerun that finally came to rest in the grass behind the school next door. The Devils scored a fourth run when Dan Boisclair reached first on an error and was moved up to third on a walk and a hit by pitch. Dan eventually scored on a wild pitch.

The Pioneers would take their last lead of the game in the second inning scoring a run on a single, sac bunt and another single.

The Devils regained the lead in the fourth inning. Paul Kunz got things rolling with a base hit. After a strike out, KC Johnson homered to left saving Paul’s legs for pitching. Adam Gregg singled in his at bat before Pat McPherson hit a towering home run to right center that sailed into the street past the scoreboard.

The Devils scored the winning run in the bottom of the fifth inning. With one out, Paul Kunz doubled. After a strikeout, KC Johnson picked up the game winning RBI with a double of his own, putting the score at 9-5.

The Pioneers mounted a comeback in the sixth inning scoring three runs chasing Paul from the mound but Adam Gregg came on to shut down the Pioneers for the rest of the game.
