The Diamond Devils had a 3-2 through five innings but could not hold on losing 6-3.

The Orphans scored the first run of the game in the third inning. Jesse Berg led off the inning with a base hit to right field. Ryan Long followed with a perfectly placed bunt down the third base line for a hit. Andy Gagnon sacrificed the runner up a base. John Stueven's ground ball to second gave the Orphans an early lead.

The lead would not last long as the Devils answered with two runs in the top of the fourth. KC Johnson got things rolling with a hard hit single to left. Adam Gregg followed with a base hit to center field. Lee Gregg was rung up on a pitch he thought was out of the strike zone. TJ Aalid walked to load the bases. Pat McPherson singled to left scoring KC. On the hit, Adam was sent home but was thrown out at the plate. With runners at the corners, Kyle Tengesdul singled to left scoring TJ giving the Devils the lead.

The lead would hold up until the sixth inning. With one out Ben Borrell doubled into the left center gap. A wild pitch and a pass ball allowed the Orphans to tie the game. After a fly ball to short, Cameron Lehner, singled down the right field line and then scored from first on Matt Donovan's double into the right center gap giving the Orphans the lead.

The Orphans put the game away in the seventh. Ryan Long led off the inning with a single to right. Andy Gagnon's walk was followed by a run scoring John Stueven single to right. On the play the Devils right fielder misplayed the ball allowing the runners to move up a base. The final two runs were scored on a Steve Boger base hit to left field.

The Devils scored their final run in the eighth inning. With one out, Lee Gregg singled sharply to left on a 0-2 hanging curveball. With the Orphans leading Lee Gregg was not going to attempt to steal second however that did not stop the pitcher from throwing over to first. The throw went into foul territory handing second base to the Devils. With Lee at second, the ground ball to short should have been a double play instead it resulted in a put out at first. Pat McPherson drove in the final run of the game with a base hit to right center.
