The game was close until the Devils sent 17 batters to the plate scoring nine runs in the sixth and seventh innings.

The Red Devils had scored the first run of the game in the second inning. However, the Diamond Devils countered with five runs in the bottom half of the inning. Brad Mazer started off the scoring when he got a pitch up in the strike zone and pounded it into the upper part of the pine trees in left field. After a fly out, the Devils reeled off three straight base hits by Ryan Dwyer, Pat McPherson and Craig Hawkinson with Craig picking up an RBI. After a ground out to third, Matt Goodwald walked to load the bases for Adam Gregg who drove in two runs with a base hit. With Matt on third, Adam stole second, on the play Matt was able to score the final run of the inning.

Rogers scored their final three runs of the game on a walk, base hit, a triple to right and an error at short.

The score would remain 5-4 until the Diamond Devils scored three more runs in the sixth inning. Matt Goodwald was hit by a pitch in the first at bat. Adam Gregg scored Matt on a double. Brandon Schliinz singled leaving runners at the corners. Brad Mazer scored Adam with a base hit. After two outs in the field and a walk, Pat McPherson drove in Brad with a base hit.

The Devils put it away in the seventh inning. Andrew Pratt reached first base in an error at second. Matt Goodwald, Adam Gregg and Brandon Schliinz singled with Brandon driving in two runs. An error at short allowed another run to score in Brad Mazer’s at bat. KC Johnson was hit by a pitch to score another run. In the next at bat, Lee Gregg was hit by a pitch to score Brad Mazer. Craig Hawkinson’s sac fly to center scored the final run of the game.
