Errors in the field and ineffective pitching allowed the Larks to win this game in the bottom of the eleventh.
The Devils were poised to win this game having built a 9-6 lead going into the bottom of the eighth inning. This is where the game took a turn for the worst. The Lark’s first batter was safe at first on a routine ground ball to short when the throw was muffed at first base. After a strike out, a walk and a double steal set the stage for Brandon Scanlon’s two run base hit, leaving the Devil’s with a one run lead.
In the bottom of the ninth, the Lark’s loaded the bases on a walk, base hit and another walk before the tying run was walked in. The Devils escaped a loss in the inning when a run was gunned down at the plate on a ground ball to short.
In the tenth, the Lark’s had a runner at third with one out. With the infield pulled in a ground ball was hit to second, the Lark’s looking for the win, sent the runner. However, a strong throw from Brandon Schliinz got the runner by five feet.
The Devils would not survive the next Lark’s scoring opportunity. The bases were loaded after two more walks and a hit by pitch. With two outs Brandon Scanlon ripped a single to left ending the night.
