The Devils jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings, had a 6-2 lead entering the fifth and had to hang on to earn a 7-6 victory.

In the first inning with one out, Vince Reuter walked. Brad Mazer laced a 335 foot double off the fence in left field. Adam Gregg’s ground out to second base scored the only Devil run in the inning.

The Devils added two more runs in the second. Lee Gregg walked to open the inning. Ryan Dwyer singled to put Devils at second and first. A Big Cat sac set up a Dan Boisclair RBI to deep short. Matt Goodwald put the ball in play to the right side of the field to score the final run.

Browton broke the ice with two runs in the top of the third on a single, a double and another base hit.

The Devils answered in the bottom half with three more runs. Another 335 foot double off the fence for Brad Mazer got things rolling. Adam Gregg singled moving Brad to third. A Brandon Schliinz base hit scored Brad, leaving runs at second and first. After a strike out, Ryan Dwyer’s double scord Adam and Brandon.

Two more runs were tallied by Brownton in the fifth. A walk and a double gave Brownton runners at third and second. A wild pitch scored the first run and a sac fly to center scored the second run.

The Devils scored their final run in the bottom of the fifth. Brandon Schliinz was hit by a pitch to start the inning. Lee Gregg singled to put runners at second and first. Ryan Dywer’s sac bunt moved the runners up a base before the Big Cat singled in Brandon.

Brownton made it a nail biter by scoring two more runs. A single, a double and another single scored the runs forcing Adam Gregg to take the mound for his brother Lee. With no outs, the runner at first was caught napping as a lazer from Mazer easily had him for the first out. Adam took over the game from there striking out the next five out of six batters he faced to seal the victory.
