For the first time in recent memory, the Devils find themselves not in first place this late in the season. The Loretto Larks did the honors knocking off the Devils 8-6 in a defensively sloppy game for the visitors.

The Larks grabbed the lead in the bottom of the fourth after two outs were in the books. With Eric Schutte on first, Reed Pawelk walked. Nate Treplett hit a double to score both Eric and Reed. Ben Scanlon singled in Nate and scored in the next at bat on a Tom Trean double.

TheDevils scored the next two runs in the top of the sixth inning. Ryan Dwyer walked to lead off the inning. Lee Gregg singled moving Ryan up to third. Pat McPherson topped a pitch that was fielded by the pitcher. Ryan, playing down angle baseball, scored as Pat was thrown out at first. Craig Hawkinson drove in Lee from second on a base hit.

The Larks answered in the bottom of the sixth by scoring two runs in their time at bat with two outs. Brandon Scanlon reached first on an error at short to begin the inning. One out later, Eric Shutte singled. A strike out later, Nate Treplett legged out a triple to score Brandon and Eric.

The Larks scored two more runs in the bottom of the seventh again with two outs. With one out Ryan Hayes singled. Ryan Schaust walked putting runs at second and first. Brandon Scanlon loaded the bases with a base hit. The Devils had a chance to end the inning with a double play but a ball hit to short got the runner at second an errant throw to first allowed the Larks to score two runs.

The Devils put up four runs in the top of the eighth. An error at third allowed Lee Gregg to reach first base. A double by Pat McPherson scored Lee from first. Two outs later, Andrew Pratt doubled in Pat from second. A base hit by Vince Reuter put runners at third and first. Brandon Schliinz walked to load the bases. Adam Gregg drove in Andrew and Vince on a base hit to finish off the scoring for the game.
