With a Diamond Devils one run lead in the fifth, Mike “Big Cat” Hokanson hit a grand slam over the pines in left field to give the Devils a lead they would not relinquish.

The Devils took an early lead in the first. Brad Mazer reached first on an error at short. Adam Gregg smacked a double to right center scoring Brad from first.

In the fifth, KC Johnson led off with a double. Ryan Dwyer walked before Lee Gregg loaded the base with  a single to left. Mike Hokanson turned on a 2-1 hanging curveball and drove the ball over the pines and into the playground for a 5-1 lead.

The Devils added an additional run in the seventh. With two outs, Mike Hokanson singled to left. Barry McCabe replaced Mike as a pinch runner. Barry Moved up to second on an errant pick off throw at first. Matt Goodwald walked to give the Devils runners at second and first. Andrew Pratt singled in Barry from second for the Devil’s final run.

Adam Gregg picked up the win, pitching eight innings, giving up three earned runs in his final inning on the mound. The Devils came up big for Adam in the fourth when KC Johnson at third threw out a runner at the plate. Brandon Schliinz made a diving play behind second, threw out the runner at first, saving a potential scoring run in the fifth. Brandon did his part on the mound giving up no runs on two hits.
