St. Boni took a run lead in the second. After the top half of the inning, there was some discussion about the play on the field but Jerry Goodwald and John Reuter had some words to say and the Devils rolled from there.

The Devils responded by scoring five runs in the bottom of the second. To start off the inning, Brandon Schliinz was hit by a pitch. Brandon moved up to second on a wild pitch before Lee Gregg doubled to left center to drive him home. Lee moved up to third on a pass ball. After a ground out to third Andrew Pratt walked and then stole second to put runners at third and second. Lee scored and Andrew moved up to third on a wild pitch. CJ Goodwald scored Andrew on a ground ball to short. Three walks and a throwing error scored two more runs.

The Devils put it away in the third inning by scoring seven runs. Lee Gregg started off the feeding frenzy with a home run at the bottom of the pines in left center. Ryan Dwyer followed with a walk. Andrew Pratt singled in his at bat before CJ drove a ball up the middle. The shortstop fielded the ball but threw wildly to first, scoring Ryan as Andrew and CJ advanced to third and second respectively. Matt Goodwald could not let CJ have all the fun as his single scored Andrew and put runners at the corners. Vince Reute’s base hit scored CJ leaving runners at second and first. Adam Gregg’s fielder’s choice to deep short forced Matt at third keeping runners at second and first. After a fly out to center, Brandon Schliinz drove in Vince and Adam with a double. Brandon scored on the next pitch on a Lee Gregg base hit.

The Devils scored the final run of the game in the sixth. Andrew Pratt hit a ground ball to short but an errant throw allowed him to reach second base. A wild pitch and ground out to second in CJ’s at bat scored Andrew.

Paul Kunz picked up the win for the Devils, pitching five innings giving up just a single run. CJ pitched the three up and three down sixth inning finishing off St. Boni.
