The Saints scored the first run of the game but the Devils scored the next three runs and hung on to win 3-2.

The Saints’ Tyler Carlson jumped on the second pitch of the game for a triple to deep right center. He would score on a ground ball to short for a one run lead.

The Devils tied the score in the bottom of the third. Lee Gregg started off the inning with a double to left center. Lee moved up to third on a Mike Hokanson ground ball to second. One batter later, Matt Goodwald singled to score Lee.

The Devils took the lead in the fifth inning on a Brandon Schliinz line drive home run. The homer ricocheted off of the top of the fence in right and finally came to a rest next to a house across the street from Don Timpe field.

The Devils scored the game winner in the seventh. With one out, Brandon Schliinz singled. After a strike out, Mike Hokanson lifted a double out to right center that rolled to the fence by the scoreboard allowing Brandon to score from first.

After the Saints score in the first, the Devils’ Adam Gregg shut down the Saints’ offense with the help of two Devils double plays in the field. CJ Goodwald, back from college, pitched a 1-2-3 eighth inning, however, the ninth was not as smooth as Paul “Iceman” Kunz had to come in to get the final two outs, leaving the bases loaded.
