This was a close game through five innings as the Devils had scored the only run of the game. However, the Devils came up big in the six, seventh and eight innings to end it early.

In the sixth inning with one out, Brandon Schlinz singled. Lee Gregg doubled off of the bottom of the left field fence to put runners at third and second. Ryan Dwyer walked to load the bases before Vince Rueter doublde down the right field line to score Brandon and Lee. Pat McPherson helped his cause with a single to score Ryan from third to end the scoring in the inning.

The Devils added another run in the seventh when Andrew Engebretson walked, stole second and scored on a Brandon Schliinz double.

The Devils scored five more runs times in the eighth. Having a good game at the plate, Vince Reuter singled. Pat McPherson followed with a walk and was pinched run for by Mike Rippberger. Vince and Mike moved up a base on a wild pitch before Adam Gregg walked to load the bases. KC Johnson walked to score Vince. Brad Mazer’s sac fly to right scored Mike and moved Adam to third. A wild pitch was far enough away to allow KC to move up to second but not far enough away to score Adam. Andrew Engebretson’s double scored Adam and KC. Dan Boisclair single scored Andrew for the final run of the game.

Pat McPherson, with his best fastball of the year, dominated the Lakers. Pat allowed only four hits as the Lakers could only manage to get three runners to second base during the game for a complete game shutout.
