CJ Goodwald shut down the Maple Lake Lakers on a perfect day for baseball at Don Timpe Field. Facing just five over the minimum, CJ and the Devils cruise to a seven nil win.

For the most part, CJ had the Lakers beating the ball into the ground. Through eight innings, Maple Lake could only muster three hits, all of them doubles. However, when the innings ended the runners were stranded at second. CJ did give up a double and a single in the ninth but with runners at the corners CJ was able to get the outs needed to preserve the shut out.

On the offensive side, the Devils hitters were hitting the ball hard through the first four innings but were shut down due to good Laker defense.

In the fifth the Devils would get the game winning run. With two outs and Matt Goodwald on first, KC Johnson jacked a 2-2 pitch into the Jack Pines in left center.

The Devils extended the lead in the next inning. Brandon Schliinz led off with a single. Brandon would score in the next at bat when Matt Duenwald doubled deep in the right center gap. After a ground out, Ryan Dwyer got all of a 1-0 pitch for his first home run of the season to straight away left.

The Devils added two more runs in the seventh. KC started off with a single. Brad Mazer doubled to put runners at second and third. KC scored on an Adam Gregg ground to short. Brad came around to score on a Schliinz sac fly to center.
