Once again in the Hamburg Classic, the Diamond Devil’s pitching is in control of the game. This time the pitcher was Pat McPherson, who had the Plato hitters off balance all game. With the hitters crowding the plate, Pat busted them inside. When the hitters moved off of the plate, Pat hit the outside corner, frustrating the Blue Jays all game long.

The Devils started the scoring in this game when Brandon Schliinz hit his second line drive homerun of the tournament to right field.

The Devils extended the lead in the fifth. With one out, KC Johnson hit a single and then stole second base. Brad Mazer singled in his at bat and then stole second, giving the Diamond Devils runners at second and third. Adam Gregg hit a sac fly to center to score KC. Brandon Schliinz drove in Brad with a single to end the scoring in the inning.

Plato inched closer by scoring a run in the sixth on a walk, double and ground out to short.

The hitters put the icing on the cake in the top of the seventh. With one out, Matt Goodwald walked and then stole second base. KC Johnson drove in Matt with a line drive down the left field line. KC came around to score on an error by the shortstop in Adam Gregg’s at bat.

Plato went quietly in the seventh as Paul Kunz once again delivered another effective scoreless inning.
