The Diamond Devils had a 3-2 lead after five innings in this seven inning affair but could not hang on.

With the Devils trailing by two in the fifth, Brad Mazer just missed a homerun and had to settle for a double high off the centerfield fence. Adam Gregg walked and Brandon Schliinz was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Matt Duenwald hit a chopper up the middle to score Brad. On the play, the shortstop had a chance to get Matt at first but made a throwing error allowing him to reach first, scoring Adam and move Brandon to third. Ryan Dwyer scored Brandon with a sac fly to leftfield.

The rest of the game did not go so well for the Devils as the Metro Merchants scored the tying run in the sixth and the go ahead run the seventh.

Pat McPherson pitched well, giving up just one run over four innings. CJ Goodwald, back from vacation, picked up the decision, allowing three runs over three innings.
