For the second night in a row, the final score does not indicate how close the game was. With more late game runs the Devils put away the Albertville Villains.

The Devils jumped out to early two nothing lead in the first. Five of the first seven batters were able to get on base, four by walks and one hit by pitch. As a result, two runs were score with a single hit.

The Villains cut into the led in the second inning by scoring an unearned run. The lead off batter was able to reach base on an error. The sac bunt moved him to second and then scored on a hit two batters later.

Both teams scored in the third. With one out in the inning, Brad Mazer hit his first double of the game. Matt Duenwald drove in Brad with a single ending the scoring in the top half of the inning. Albertville answered in the bottom half with two runs of their own. With two outs the Villains managed a double, single and another double to tie the game at three runs apiece.

In the fifth both teams would score again. Brad Mazer singled to start the inning and then was sacrificed to second. Mike Hokanson singled in the run to end the scoring. The Villain’s Shane Mclaughlin and Todd Klaers did the damage in their half of the inning. Shane singled and Todd doubled Shane in from first.

In the seventh, the Villain’s aggressiveness cost them the go ahead run. With one out and runners at third and second, the Devil’s Andrew Engebretson made a great sliding catch on a line drive to center and with both runners going on the hit, Andrew easily threw out the runner at second for a double play to end the inning.

The Devils put the game away in the eighth scoring five runs. KC Johnson started the inning with a single and then was moved to second on a sac bunt. Adam Gregg walked in his at bat. Engebretson reached first on a Villain error. With bases loaded, Mazer hit his second double of the game to score three runs. Duenwald and Hokanson walked in their at bat to load the bases again for the Devils. Ryan Dywer earned an RBI when he walked on a full count pitch. After a pitching change, Dan Boisclair ground out to the third baseman to score Duenwald from third for the final run of the inning.

The Devils added an insurance run in the ninth. Brandon Schliinz and Adam Gregg singled to start the ninth. After an out, Brad Mazer picked up his fourth RBI of the game with a single.

Pat McPherson earned his second NSL win in five days. Pat gave up four runs, three earned, over eight innings. With help by some good defense, Pat was able to get out of some tough situations. Brandon Schliinz finished off the Villains with a three up and three down ninth.
