The Diamond Devils fell behind 2-0 before Andrew Engebretson tied it up with a two run home run in the bottom of the fifth.
 
This game was closer than the final score of 10-4. Mound played the Devils tough today. After Mound’s Andy Snyder’s home run in the top of the eighth, the score was 5-3. But the Devils broke it open in the bottom of the inning scoring five runs to put the game out of reach.
 
Mound scored a run in fourth and fifth inning to take a 2-0 lead. Going into the bottom of the fifth the Devils after leaving six runs on base five in scoring position through four innings, were looking to get things going. In a game changing at bat Andrew Engebretson, with Matt Goodwald on second base, would not disappoint the Devil fans as he jacked a hanging curveball into the pines in left field to tie the score at 2-2.
 
From that point on the Devils did not look back as they scored three more runs in the bottom of the sixth. With one out Pat McPherson singled. Craig Hawkinson advanced Pat to second with a base hit. Matt Goodwald walked in the Devil’s next at bat to load the bases. KC Johnson scored the go ahead run with a ground ball to short that forced Matt at second base. In the next at bat, Adam Gregg delivered a run scoring single. After Adam’s at bat Mound changed pitchers but Andrew Engebretson welcomed him with a RBI single to finish out the scoring for the Devils.
 
With the score 5-2 in favor of the Devils, Mound’s Andy Synder hit a home run to get the Mallards back into the game. But the Devils in the bottom of the inning came up big. KC Johnson led off the inning getting hit by a pitch. Adam Gregg walked in the next at bat. Andrew Engebretson loaded the basses after Mound’s shortstop committed an error. Brad Mazer cleared the bases with a double to left center. Brad, who took third on the throw to home in the previous play, scored on a pass ball. Brandon Schliinz scored the final run in the inning, after getting on base, moved up to second on a wild pitch, stole third and scored when the catcher’s throw went into left field.
 
Mound scored an unearned run in the top of the ninth as the Devils advance in the divisional playoffs with a 10-4 win.
 
Adam Gregg Adam Gregg earned his seventh win of the season. Adam pitched eight innings giving up three runs, two earned, on seven hits, one walk, and seven strike outs on 123 pitches. Pat McPherson pitched the ninth inning giving up one unearned run on one hit.
