The Diamond Devils out hit a very good hitting Polecats team in a 10-1 victory.

The Devils had nearly three times as many hits as the Polecats, 17 compared to 6. In fact the Devils had more doubles than the Polecats had hits.

Matt Goodwald and Andrew Engebretson led the team in hits with four apiece. All but one Devils starter had a hit. Adam Gregg had the game winning hit in the third inning when he hit a ball to deep center field. Adam thought it was a home run and went into a trot but would have to pick up the pace a little when the ball hit of the top of the fence in center field.

Pat McPherson pitched seven innings giving up one earned run on six hits, three strikeouts, one walk and one hit batter. Pat kept the ball down just enough to the keep the long fly balls in the park. Jay Homuth finished the game facing seven batters over two innings, giving up no hits while striking out two.

The play of the game was turned in by KC Johnson who played third base. In the second inning, KC made a diving catch of a line drive scorched by the Polecat’s Tony Hoaglund.
