The Diamond Devils came back from a three run deficit in the third and then held on in the top of the ninth to win the home opener.

The Diamond Devils' Paul Kunz hit the mound for the first time this spring on Sunday giving up three runs over three innings.  The King's used four hits and two walks to score the first runs of the year against the Devils.

The Devil hitters scored three of their own in the bottom half of the third.  With one out, Jeff Pitzenberger singled to left field.  Ryan Dwyer followed with a base hit up the middle.  Ben Smith almost took the first baseman out with a bullet that skipped past the right fielder to score the first two runs of the inning and left Ben standing on third.  Ryan Jakubov drove a ball deep into center to score Ben on a sacrifice fly.

The Devils took the lead in the bottom off the eighth.  With two outs, Lee Gregg's hit did not leave the infield as the shortstop made a diving play deep in the hole but could not get up and make a throw.  Luke Hagen doubled down the left field line to put runners at second and third.  Pat McPherson drove a fastball into right center.  The center fielder attempted a diving catch but the ball bounced off his chest allowing Pat and Luke to score.

The Kings woud not go quietly in the ninth as they scored a run on four hits and had the bases loaded off the Devil's Pat McPherson with one out.  After a pitching change to bring in Adam Gregg, the Kings' were laid to rest as the last batter grounded into a 1-2-3 double play.
