Last Sunday the Devils beat the Larks 3-2 in nine innings. This Sunday the Devils once again beat the Larks 3-2 however this time it took eleven innings.

Just like the prior Sunday, the Larks had built a 2-0 lead forcing the Devils to play from behind. It took the Devils’ starting pitcher Adam Gregg an inning to get settled as the Larks scored two runs on four hits. After the first inning, Adam was lights out as the Larks would only get three more hits over the next ten innings while striking out eighteen times. Adam dominated the bottom third of the order collecting nine strike outs in twelve at bats. One hitter struck out
three times on nine pitches.

Andrew Engebretson started off the rally in the second inning when he drilled the first pitch of the inning into the pine trees at left field.

The Devils would not score again until the sixth inning. Ryan Dwyer led off the inning with a double to the left field fence. Andrew Pratt sac bunted Ryan over to third in his time at the plate. After a fly out to short right field, Brad Mazer hit a double down the left field line to tie the game.

With Adam sitting at 157 pitches for the game it was up to the hitters to come through. Adam Gregg led off the inning with the only strike out in the game for the Devils. Brad Mazer singled to left field followed by Andrew Engrebretson’s single to right center. Lee Gregg was able to work the count full while fouling off a few pitches to keep his at bat alive before ripping a single down the left field line to score Brad with the game winning run.
