The Diamond Devils did in the Rogers Red Devils in seven innings winning the game 12-2.

The Devils’ Paul Kunz gritted the game out going the distance giving up two runs on 131 pitches. With an erratic strike zone and being effectively wild Paul struck out six batters while walking five batters and hitting three batters on his way to earning his ninth victory of the season.

The Devils batters took advantage of the Red Devils wild pitching. In the first inning with one out John Hilbelink walked. After a fly out to right field, Andrew Engebretson singled to right to put runners at the corners. Lee Gregg scored both runners with a double to deep right center in his at bat. Brad Mazer drove in the game winning run with a single to left. Four walks later the Devils had a five to nothing lead.

The Red Devils countered with two runs in the top of the second. Aaron Cook led off the inning with a home run to right center. Zach DeMars walked in his time at the plate and came around to score after a walk to Joe Freeman and a base hit by Eric Smith to end the scoring by the Red Devils.

The Diamond Devils scored another run in the third inning. KC Johnson led off the inning with a scorched line drive down the third base line for a double. After a strike out, Ryan Dwyer drove in KC with a base hit to right field.

The Devils added another run in the fourth inning. Adam Gregg singled to left to start off the inning and took second base as the Red Devils’ left fielder misplayed the ball. Andrew Engebretson singled up the middle to end the scoring in the inning.

The Devils ended the game in the bottom of the seventh. KC Johnson started the inning with a drive to left field. Craig Hawkinson grounded a ball to second but an error by the shortstop gave the Devils runners at second and first. Before a fly out to short right field the Devils executed a double steel to set up Andrew Pratt’s RBI single to center field. John Hilbelink, Adam Gregg and Andrew Engebretson drew walks to score two more runs. After a fly out to first a wild pitch scored the fourth run in Brad Mazer’s at bat. Brad, swinging at a tree branch, scored the game ending run with a single to center.
