A six run fourth inning was all the Diamond Devils needed to double up the Elk River Pioneers 8-4.

The game started out well for the Pioneers as they scored two runs in the top of the first inning courtesy of an error, a double and base hit off the Devils starting pitcher TJ Aalid.

The Devils cut the lead in half in the bottom of the first. With two outs Brad Mazer singled to left field and scored from first on an Andrew Engebretson double to center field.

The Pioneers scored their final two more runs of the game in the top of the third on a walk, double and two singles.

Once again the Devils would counter the Pioneers scoring with scoring of their own when Andrew Engebretson blasted a towering home run to left center.

The Devils took the lead in the fifth inning scoring six runs. KC Johnson started off the inning with a walk. Tom Fisk singled to put runners at first and second. Craig Hawkinson drove in KC and Tom with a double. After a strike out, Billy Soule tripled and scored on a drive to center field from John Hilbelink. An error at third in Brad Mazer’s at bat left the Devils with runners at first and second. During Andrew Engebretson’s at bat John stole third and scored on a wild pitch before Andrew drove in Brad with a base hit to end the scoring.

The Devils’ starting pitcher TJ Aalid went eight innings while picking up the win before giving way to Craig Hawkinson who pitched the final inning.
