The Devils tied up the game in the ninth. However, the Larks' last batter in the lineup, who was a thorn in the Devils side all day, flared another single, this time into right center, putting a dagger into the Devils' hearts.

The Devils score the first two runs of the game. In the second inning, KC Johnson doubled to left and was driven home by a Ryan Jakubov single to left. In the fourth inning, KC Johnson popped a ball up to second but the second baseman lost sight of the ball when his glove dipped below his shoulder resulting in dropped ball. KC not particularly running hard had to speed it up as the rushed throw sailed wide of first. KC was half was down to second as the ball was picked up by the fence. The throw to second made it a bang, bang play but KC was safe. After an out, Luke Hagen grounded out to second to move KC up to third. Ryan Jakubov scored KC on an infield single between the mound and short.

The Larks scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead. The error that cost the Devils was not committed in the fourth but in the third. With two outs, Todd Roth struck out in the bottom of the third on a ball that the Devils' catcher had to block. The throw down to first was off the mark to extend the inning. The next batter flew out to center but allowed Brandon Scanlon to lead off the next inning. Brandon led off the next inning with a single to center. After a fly out to right, Eric Schutte was hit by a pitch. After another fly out to right, Ryan Schaust blooped a fly ball down the right field line. The Devils' Andrew Miller made a diving attempt, the ball found the glove but when Andrew's elbow hit the ground the ball popped out of the glove giving Ryan a two run double thanks to the umpire at the plate. On the play, Eric was sent home and the throw was on time but Eric took and inside route and had to come back through the left side batters' box. The Devils fans thought Eric was out of the baseline and the Larks fans thought it was a run scored. The umpire sided with the Lark fans. It went downhill in the inning as two walks and single to left scored two more runs.

The Devils answered in the top of the sixth. With two outs and Lee Gregg at first, Luke Hagen singled to left center. Ryan Jakubov drove in his third run of the game on a single to right. Ryan Dwyer was hit by a pitch before Pat McPherson tied the game on a single to right.

A put out by the Devils' pitcher down the first base line scored the second run of the inning. Luke Steinbach drove in the final run of the inning with a base hit.

The Devils scored two runs in the top of the eighth to bring the game to within one run. With two outs and Andrew Miller at first, Tom Fisk had a swinging bunt down the third base line. Adam Gregg singled to load the bases. KC Johnson singled to center to score two runs.
