In the eighth the Diamond Devils had a small rally going by scoring two runs before the lights went out in Delano. After thirty minutes, the rally continued as the Devils plated five more runs. However, it would not be enough.

As has been the case too many times this year the Devils have been their own worst enemy on the field. In the fourth inning the defense committed three errors which led to five unearned runs. Lee Gregg would have been out of the inning with ten pitches but then Lee has to throw more than twice as many on a hot and humid night.

The Devils were trailing 12-3 in the top of the eighth in an inning with two rallies. Kyle Tengesdul started off the inning with a single into right field. After a fly out to right, Adam Gregg walked. Andrew Miller ripped a triple over the right fielder's head to score two runs as the stadium lights went out. A half hour later, the Devils started where they left off. Ryan Dywer's line drive was knocked down by a diving third baseman. However, the throw was not in time to get Ryan. After a change in pitchers, KC Johnson singled to left. Lee Gregg followed with a base hit to left. Ryan Jakubov drove in a run on a single to left. Matt Jakubov drove in two runs with a single to right center. With runners at the corners, the final run of the inning scored on a wild pitch.
