The Diamond Devils received big performances from KC Johnson at the plate and Adam Gregg from the mound and the plate as the Devils defeated the Villains 8-6.

The Villains started off the game with three runs in the first inning. Cory Nelson led off the game with a single into left field. David Borchardt walked in the next at bat. Jimmy Althoff laid down a sacrifice bunt however the Devils second baseman was late covering first causing starting pitcher Adam Gregg to alter his throw allowing the Villains to score their first run as the ball rolled into right field foul territory. With runners at third and second, Todd Klaers scored the next run on a soft ground ball to third. After a ground out to the pitcher an error at short gave the Villains their final run of the first.

The Diamond Devils came storming back in their half of the first inning. Andrew Miller led off the inning with a strike out but reached first as the ball bounced in the dirt and rolled to the backstop. After a fly out, Tom Fisk walked in his plate appearance. Adam Gregg tied the game on a hanging off speed pitch that he drove into the pine trees over the left field fence.

The devils took the lead in the third inning scoring two runs. With one out, Tom Fisk doubled into the right center gap. After his home run in the first inning the Villains decided to intentional walk Adam. Lee Gregg came through with a base hit into left field to score Tom. Pat McPherson followed with a run scoring base hit to right center.

The Devils expanded the lead in the seventh inning when KC Johnson hammered a home run over the left center fence.

KC was not done as he extended the Devils lead in the eighth inning. Craig Hawkinson started off the inning by walking. After two ground ball outs, KC hit his second home run of the game on a deep drive into the pines in left field.

The Villains would not go down quietly as the made it interesting in the top of the ninth. With Adam at the 114 pitch mark starting the inning the first two Villains reached base on a walk and a single to left. After a strike out, David Borshardt hit a home run over the right field fence. The Villains' next hitter singled to left but Adam came through getting a ground ball out to second and struck out the final batter of the game.
