With the loss to the Villains, for the first time in six years the Diamond Devils will not have number one seed going into the divisional playoffs.

Through the end of June the Devils had the best record in the North Star league but with the last two losses the Devils will finish in second place. Over the last three league games the pitching staff has posted an ERA over five runs per game. The defense has been below average as seven unearned runs have been given up. The hitters have a respectable batting average of .337 but the third and fourth hitters in the lineup have a batting average of .200 and .083. The leadoff hitter has a batting average of .615, but with the hitters behind him struggling, has scored only 3 runs in the last three league games. Twenty-two runners have been stranded with fifteen in scoring position.

The good thing is the Diamond Devils have been in this position before as they have over the last few years for some reason have struggled after the Hinckley Tournament and have turned it around to do well in the playoffs. Advancing to the regional tournament in the last six years and making it to state tournament in four of those years.
