For the first time the Mound Mallards sweep the Diamond Devils in league play. This time it was not just one Diamond Devil that stumbled but the team as a whole.

Paul Kunz made his first start in a month and after a long wait between warming up and the end of the speeches made, in honor of manager John Timpe making into the North Star League Hall of Fame, looked a little more than rusty. The Mallards took advantage of the situation scoring three runs in the first inning. Peter Harrell singled down the right field line in the first at bat of the game. Rob Moynagh sacrificed bunted to move the runner up to second. After a fly out to left, Andy Snyder singled to left scoring Peter. On the play, the Devils left fielder missed the cut off allowing Andy to move up to second as the ball was fielded by the catcher. Eddie Kutz drove in Andy with a base hit to left. The Mallards would load the bases on a walk and a hit by a pitch before a wild pitch would score the eventual winning run. Paul Kunz

Paul would settle down and pitch a pretty good game just giving up an unearned run in the fifth and final inning of the game for him. The Mallards had two outs and runners at first when Paul threw over to first as the runner took off for second. The throw from first was off the mark and the runner was safe at second. Chris Harrell would make the Devils pay for the mistake as he singled to left to score the forth run of the game.

The Devils scored their first run of the game in the fifth inning. Ryan Dwyer doubled down the left field line to start off the inning. After two infield ground outs, Billy Soule came through with a base hit to center to score Ryan.

The Mallards were given another unearned run in the seventh. With two outs, Eddie Kutx doubled off the fence in left center. An error at short allowed Eddie to score the final Mallard run.

Billy Soule The Devils scored their final run of the game immediately after the Mallards turned a double play when Billy Soule crushed a home run just to the left side of the scoreboard in right center.

The Devils had a chance in the bottom of the ninth. With one out and the base loaded meant the tying run was at first. However, the hitters could not come through as the final two batters struck out.
