The Devils’ Pat McPherson and Craig Hawkinson combined, gave up one run as the Devils won their first league road game of the year 3-1.

Elk River took a one run lead in the first inning. The first batter of the game singled to center and then moved up to second on a sac bunt. An error at second put runners at first and third before a single to left scored the only run of the game for Elk River. From that point on Pat McPherson was able to get out of four more scoring situations getting the outs when needed. Craig Hawkinson pitched the final two innings, striking out five of the seven batters that he faced.

The Devils got on the board in the sixth innings scoring three runs. With one out, Ryan Dwyer walked and then stole second base before a ground out to short. Craig Hawkinson’s base hit scored the tying run. Vince Reuter singled leaving runners at first and second. Dan Boisclair singled to load the bases. Andrew Pratt drove in the final runs of the game with a single scoring Craig and Vince.
