The Diamond Devils only had three hits through eight innings and went on to score the tying run in the bottom of the ninth with two walks and two hit batters.

The Mallards took the lead in the top of the eighth inning. With two outs and the bases loaded, Mound’s Andy Snyder looked like he was out on a 1-2 fastball down the middle of the plate. However, the league’s most controversial umpire could not pull the trigger, bringing the Devil’s Brad Mazer out of his crouch telling the umpire point blank that he missed the call. The next pitch resulted in the first run of the game with a RBI base hit to left field.

With a little help, the Devils tied the game up in the bottom of the ninth. Adam Gregg led off the inning by getting hit  by a pitch. After a pop out to the catcher in the next at bat, Andrew Engebretson was hit by a pitch. Brad Mazer walked to load the bases. A strike out in the next at bat left the Devils with one out remaining in the game. Lee Gregg would not disappoint as he worked a full count and picked up an RBI as he was walked on the next pitch.

The Devils won the game in the bottom of the tenth with a little more help. With two outs, Adam Gregg hit a ground ball to second but the throw over to first pulled Robb Moynagh off the base. Brandon Schliinz singled putting runners at first and second.  Andrew Engebretson drove a towering fly ball to left center. With the left fielder calling for the ball while running to his left watched as the ball skipped off the top of his glove at the base of the fence.
