However, the Devils came back in the bottom half of the inning scoring five runs. Matt Goodwald started off the inning with a walk. After a ground out to third, Luke Klitzke crushed a home run that finally came down in the middle of the street in right center. After a double and a base hit that appeared to be a foul ball down the right field line, the starting pitcher was told by the umpire to leave the game after the ump admitted that he did not see where the ball landed. Two more runs scored before Pat McPherson was able to stop the bleeding.

The Devils bounced back in the bottom of the sixth inning scoring three more runs. Two base hits and a hit by pitch loaded the bases. KC Johnson was hit by a pitch to score the first run. After a fly out, Pat McPherson was hit by a pitch to score the second run. Craig Hawkinson hit a sac fly to left to score the final run of the inning.
