The Diamond Devils wrapped up the North Star East division at Don Timpe field with a 5-3 victory behind the outstanding pitching of Adam Greg and Paul Kunz.

The Larks jumped out to an early lead in the first inning. Brandon Scanlon led off the game with a fly ball to right but a sliding catch was misplayed allowing Brandon to reach second base. After a ground out to the pitcher, Eric Schutte singled to put runners at third and first. Nate Treplett hit a ground ball to third for a force at second but Brandon running on the play was safe at home as the throw from second was late giving the Larks 1-0 lead.

In the second inning, the Larks extended the lead. Joe Althoff reached first base on an error by the shortstop. Ben Scanlon laid down a bunt to move the runner up to second. After a walk to Tom Traen and a base hit by Herb Koch Sr to center loaded the bases for the Larks. Brandon Scanlon singled to score Joe. The Larks tried to score another run on Kent Koch’s fly ball to right but Lee Gregg’s throw was right on the mark to gun down Tom at the plate to end the inning.

The Devils cut the lead in half in the third inning. In the Devils first at bat of the inning, Craig Hawkinson reached first on as error at second base. Pat McPherson singled to put Devils at second and first. Matt Goodwald's sac bunt moved the runners up a base. Andrew Pratt with a full count flied out to center scoring Craig from third.

The Devils scored all the runs they would need in the fourth inning. Brandon Schliinz led off the inning with a double to right field. Ryan Dwyer singled giving the Devils runners at third and first. Ryan stole second base before KC Johnson's fly out to center scored Brandon on a sacrifice. Craig Hawkinson walked in his time at the plate leaving the Devils with runners at second and first. Pat McPherson singled scoring Ryan from second. Matt Goodwald hit a ball to short that was bobbled, allowing the runners to move up a base while Matt was cut down at first. Andrew Pratt drove in the winning run with a two run scoring single to right center.

The only earned run that Adam Gregg gave up to the Larks came in the sixth inning. Nate Treplett started off the inning with a walk. Nate stole second before a ground out to the second baseman moved him up to third. A sac fly to center by Joe Althoff scored Nate for the final run of the game.

The Larks would not go down quietly was they mounted a threat in the ninth. With Paul Kunz on the mound for the Devils and one out, Ben Scanlon walked. Ben was replaced for a pinch runner before Tom Traen hit a ball to left. On the play, Ryan Dwyer charged the ball freezing the runner between second and first. The ball dropped in front of Ryan as a perfect hop gave him plenty of time to throw out the runner at second base. A base hit by Herb Koch Sr put runners at third and second however a ground out to second in the next at bat made the Diamond Devils the North Star East champions.
