For the fourth time in seven games the Larks and Diamond Devils battled it out on the field. This was a total opposite game compared to last Sunday’s game were 24 runs were scored in seven innings of play. This game had good pitching from both teams, a total of three runs scored and a completed game in under two hours.

The Devils jumped out to a first inning two run lead. With two outs and Andrew Pratt at first, Adam Gregg doubled to score the first run of the game. In his at bat, Matt Duenwald hit a pitch deep into the hole at short. The shortstop made a diving play to get the ball but Matt beat out an errant throw that allowed Adam to cross the plate for the winning run.

With help from some good defensive plays from the catcher Dan Boisclair, the left fielder Ryan Dwyer and the second baseman Vince Reuter, the Devils starting pitcher Pat McPherson kept the Larks in check. With the oppressive heat and the pitch count approaching 100, the Larks were able to score a run on a single, a bunt and another single in the seventh inning.

Craig Hawkinson pitched the final two innings earning his third save of the season.
