The Diamond Devils had the lead in this game from the top of the first until the bottom of the eighth but could not hold on as the Huskies rallied for a 7-4 win.

Things started off well for the Devils as the lead off hitter Matt Goodwald singled and then stole second base. Although the next batter struck out, Brad Mazer came to the plate and ripped a ball through the sneakers of the third baseman to put runners at first and third. Adam Gregg singled in his at bat to score Matt for the first run of the game. Brad moved up to third on a wild pitch that ended up ten feet from the catcher. Brandon Schliinz scored Brad with a sac fly to shallow center field.

The Huskies scored a single run in the bottom of the third on three straight singles by the top of the order.

The Devils answered in the top of the fourth. Matt Duenwald started things off with a single. Pat McPherson sac bunted Matt to second. Ryan Dwyer did not disappoint as his hit drove in Matt with a single. Ryan moved up to second on a Dan Boisclair ground out. Matt Goodwald followed with a hit deep in the hole between third and short. The shortstop made a great play just to stop the ball and make the throw to first. Matt beat out the throw as the ball skipped past the first baseman to score Ryan from third for the Devils final run of the game.

From then on the Huskies chipped away at the lead, scoring a run in the bottom of the fourth and a single run in the bottom of the seventh. In the eighth, the Huskies broke it open with four runs to win the game.

CJ Goodwald earned the decision pitching seven and a third innings. Once again CJ gave the Devils an excellent opportunity to win the game but the Huskies came up with the hits with runners on base late in the game whereas the Devils hitters came up short. The Devils stranded nine base runners, six in scoring position.
