The Devil’s defense did not show up for the game until the fifth inning but the Devils were able to get the lead in the seventh on their way to a 14-8 win.

Of the first seven runs scored by the Villains, six were unearned. Because of the extended play, the Devil’s Pat McPherson had to throw an extra 29 pitches through six innings. Paul Kunz pitched the final three innings to earn the save.

The hitters struggled at first but picked up the pace after the third inning. Brandon Schliinz, Adam Gregg and Andrew Engebretson did most of the damage at the plate getting nine of the fourteen Devil hits. Brandon scored two runs on three hits. Of the three hits two were for doubles. Brandon also had three RBIs in six plate appearances. Adam went to the plate six times getting two doubles and a triple. He scored twice and had one RBI. Andrew batted five times, hitting two singles and a home run to straight away center. Andrew scored three times and had three RBIs. In Andrew’s last at bat the Villain left fielder robbed him on another home run when he made a Torii Hunter type leaping catch.
